Depois de sair do Guess Who, o guitarrista Randy Bachman gravou um álbum solo e formou o Brave Belt, com seu irmão Robbie na bateria e C.F."Fred" Turner no baixo. Esta seria a base do BTO, que com seu pop pesado emplacou hits como "Takin care of business", "You ain't seen nothing yet" e "Hey you". Com a banda desfeita em 1979, Randy Bachman partiu para carreira solo, fundou o efêmero Ironhouse e tentou - sem êxito - voltar com o BTO em 1984.
