Formado nos arredores de Dublin, em 1975, o Boomtown Rats não demorou para estabelecer-se como uma espécie de "remake punk" dos Rolling Stones. Seus primeiros singles "Looking after nº 1", "Mary of the fourth form" e "She's so modern", apareceram nas paradas da Inglaterra, mas foi mesmo a dobradinha "Rat trap/I don't like mondays", que os tornaram mundialmente conhecidos. Sem dúvida, os melhores discos são os dois primeiros(aqui postados!). Vale lembrar que o vocalista era Bob Geldof, hoje mais preocupado com política....
