Como boa parte dos grandes grupos de rock, a parceria de dois talentos sempre foi fundamental para o reconhecimento das bandas no cenário mundial. O Velvet Underground foi uma das bandas mais importantes da história do rock, e não fugiu à regra.

Lou Reed era a metade mais conhecida da banda. Fez uma carreira importante depois do fim do Velvet. Mas a outra metade, talvez a veia mais criativa da banda, não alcançou tanto sucesso quanto Reed. A prova é que os dois grandes discos do Velvet Underground tinham a parceria de Lou Reed e John Cale. Velvet Undergound (o disco da banana), com participação da cantora Nico e produção de Andy Wharol, e White Light/White Heat.

Depois da saída de Cale, o Velvet passou a ser apenas mais uma banda de rock, como tantas que existiam na época. Vinte anos depois, os dois se uniriam novamente para prestar o tributo definitivo a Andy no brilhante Songs for Drella.

Pois o disco definitivo na inconstante carreira solo de John Cale foi lançado em 1974. Fear é uma obra prima. Cale conseguiu captar um pouco de Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Brian Ferry e Bob Dylan mantendo a originalidade do som do Velvet, grupo que fundou junto com Lou Reed. Faixas como Emily, Barracuda e You know me more than I know fazem de Fear um dos trabalhos mais impressionantes da história do rock em todos os tempos.

Neste disco, John Cale mostra por que foi responsável pela criação de um dos grupos mais influentes da música contemporânea. Fear é um disco para ouvir com atenção. Pare tudo o que você está fazendo e gaste um tempo neste exercício. Vai valer a pena!

Este ano de 2010 foi de pouca criatividade para o blog, consegui escrever e postar alguns álbuns somente até fevereiro deste ano, nestes meses que o blog ficou parado tive a oportunidade de conhecer várias bandas, cantores e "voltar" a gostar de alguns que estavam esquecidos no fundo da gaveta....portanto venho para DESEJAR UM FELIZ NATAL e UM PRÓSPERO NOVO ANO, com a promessa de que 2011 será um ano especial para o ROCKISTORY....

THE BATS - Daddy's highway(1987)

Banda formada em Christchurch, Nova Zelândia, em 1982. Após vários Ep's e um considerável sucesso local, a banda lança seu primeiro álbum completo, "Daddy's Highway" de 1987. Este grupo representa o que existe de melhor no rock desta distante ilha britânica!!!...Jangle pop, pitadas de Byrds, 60's...são muitas influências deste grupo...ouça e dê a sua opinião.

THE CLEAN - Anthology(1980/1996)

Uma das mais influentes bandas do pós-punk da Nova Zelândia. Formada em 1978 na cidade de Dunedin. Foi uma das primeiras bandas do país a gravar e tocar o seu próprio material....ótimo disco, ótimas melodias recheadas de distorções.

AGRADECIMENTOS

Iniciei este blog em 31 de janeiro de 2007, com a excelente intenção de espalhar o melhor da música feita pelos quatro cantos do mundo, não ganho dinheiro com isto, não tenho patrocinadores, não vendo nada e muito menos roubo(apesar de já ter sido acusado!!)...tenho plena consciência de que este trabalho poderia estar bem melhor, acho que consigo atingir uns 60% ou 70% de aprovação...sei que muitas pessoas adoram meu trabalho, outras odeiam, outras acham informações erradas, outros reclamam dos links quebrados, outros pedem discos, outros reclamam que pediram e eu não coloquei, outros pedem para ser meus parceiros no blog....enfim!!!....posso dizer que 95% dos comentários são agradáveis e de incentivo, os 5% restantes são desagradáveis e desnecessários...mas tudo bem.
